Vision Correction

We provide the latest techniques to correct vision problems with precision and safety.

At Al-Noor Eye Center, we provide a comprehensive range of modern vision correction techniques, tailored to each case based on medical examination, corneal shape and thickness, and the degree of refractive error.

Here are the main techniques used:

1️⃣ ICL – Implantable Collamer Lens

When is it used?

  • For cases not suitable for laser procedures (such as thin corneas or very high refractive errors).
  • For patients who prefer a reversible option.

Description:
A thin, transparent lens is implanted inside the eye, between the iris and the natural lens, without removing any part of the eye. The lens corrects vision with high precision and provides excellent results without altering the cornea.

Advantages:

  • Removable or adjustable in the future
  • Does not alter the corneal structure
  • Ideal for high levels of myopia

2️⃣ PRK – Photorefractive Keratectomy

When is it used?

  • For thin or sensitive corneas
  • For patients unsuitable for LASIK or SMILE

Description:
The outer layer of the cornea (epithelium) is removed, and the corneal surface is reshaped with a laser to correct refractive errors. The epithelium grows back naturally within a few days.

Advantages:

  • Very safe in the long term
  • No corneal flap is created
  • Effective for correcting myopia, hyperopia, and astigmatism

Note: Recovery is slightly longer compared to LASIK, and temporary discomfort may occur.

3️⃣ Femto-LASIK

When is it used?

  • The most popular choice for safe and quick vision correction
  • Suitable for most patients without corneal thickness issues

Description:
A femtosecond laser creates a very thin flap in the cornea, which is then reshaped using an excimer laser. The flap is repositioned afterwards.

Advantages:

  • Quick procedure (only a few minutes)
  • Fast recovery with minimal discomfort
  • Clear vision within 1–2 days

4️⃣ SMILE – Small Incision Lenticule Extraction

The latest technique for vision correction without creating a flap.

When is it used?

  • Ideal for patients with myopia and astigmatism
  • Recommended for active individuals and athletes
  • For cases requiring greater corneal stability

Description:
A femtosecond laser creates a small lens-shaped piece of tissue (lenticule) inside the cornea, which is removed through a tiny incision (2–3 mm), without cutting or lifting the corneal surface.

Advantages:

  • Faster healing
  • Less dry eye compared to other procedures
  • More stability for highly active or athletic patients
  • No flap or corneal surface incision

5️⃣ Premium / Multifocal IOLs – Smart Lens Implantation

The most advanced solution for permanent vision correction.

When is it used?

  • For patients with age-related farsightedness (Presbyopia).
  • For those wishing to eliminate dependence on glasses (both for near and distance vision).
  • In cataract cases where the natural lens is replaced with a premium lens.

Description:
The natural lens of the eye is replaced with a premium multifocal or trifocal intraocular lens. These lenses are designed to provide clear vision at all distances: near – intermediate – far, allowing patients to live without glasses.

Advantages:

  • Vision correction for all distances (near, intermediate, far)
  • Significant reduction or complete freedom from glasses
  • Safe and advanced technology with long-term results
  • Ideal for those seeking visual freedom and an improved quality of life

How do I choose the best option?

The choice of technique is made after thorough examinations, including:

  • Corneal health and shape
  • Corneal thickness
  • Refractive error measurements
  • Tear gland function
